CHEYENNE – Cheyenne East picked up a pair of lopsided victories Friday at the Strannigan tournament in Riverton.
The T-Birds beat Lander 60-40 and Jackson 70-27.
Junior guard Boden Liljedhal scored 20 points against Lander, while Darcy Jardine added 10 points. East held the Tigers to just one point during the second quarter.
“The second quarter, our girls played up to their ability and locked in defensively,” East coach Eric Westling. “We needed to finish better, but I was really proud of how they played in the second.”
Against Jackson, senior Jordan Jones scored 14 points, while sophomore Brady Schlabs had 11. Liljedahl and Madison Kaufman both scored 10.
“Our challenge pre-game was to play at our level and make sure we’re doing the things we need to do. The kids took that to heart, and I’m proud of their effort.”
The Lady Thunderbirds close the tournament against Riverton at 3 p.m. today.
